Barak Valley Cements Limited was incorporated as a Public Limited Company in the year 1999, under the Companies Act, 1956.
The Company was promoted by Mr. Prahlad Rai Chamaria, Mr. Bijay Kumar Garodia and Mr. Santosh Kumar Bajaj. The promoters of the company are born and brought up in the North East Region. All the promoters of the Company are well known and reputed businessmen in North East and are having a vast experience in different segments like plywood, Timber, Cement, and Concrete Sleepers etc.
Presently the Company is engaged in the business of manufacturing of cement of different grades and is marketing its product under the brand name "Valley Strong Cement". The company started its commercial production in April 2001. Initially the company started its commercial production at the capacity of the plant at 300 TPD , subsequently company undertook various expansion and modernization plans from time to time which increased the installed capacity to 600 TPD of clinker and 750 TPD of cement. The technology that is used in manufacturing our product is Dry Process Rotary Kiln Technology with 4 stage Suspension Pre Heater technology.
The company is located in Assam and all the operations of the company are concentrated in the North Eastern region. The manufacturing unit of the company is at Jhoom Basti, Devendranagar, Badarpurghat, District Karimganj, Assam. Our sales are also concentrated in the North Eastern region of India. Our product portfolio includes both Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC). Our Company is ISO 9001: 2008 certified company and our products confirm to BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) specifications.
The company also got listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange in November, 2007.
Being located in Assam, we are entitled to get various benefits like Excise duty exemption, Working capital interest subsidy and Insurance subsidy.
BVCL plant is the largest cement plant in the State of Assam due to its various strengths.
Deficit cement market in North East Region (NER) has benefited the company since Cement demand has been growing at a faster pace in NER than rest of the country due to material gap between demand & supply. BVCL is also blessed with the location advantage. Our manufacturing unit is located in Barak Valley region, Assam. This entire area is surrounded by the other states of North-East such as Mizoram, Tripura, and Southern part of Meghalaya, which are our target markets. Barak Valley is the foot land of all the three states and Badarpur Ghat is the junction point.
BVCL also has a diversified and strong customer base consisting of individuals, contractors, builders, institutions and government agencies. Our main institutional and Government customers are Director General Of Supplies & Disposals (DGS&D), 19th Assam Rifals, Executive Engineer Rural Development, ONGC, BSF, etc. Our Company has been able to give the consistent performance in terms of Sales, Profitability since commencement of its commercial production in the year 2001. The company's sales and the Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) have also shown the upward trend. The financial parameters of the company are the indicators of its performance and the company has been able to outshine and stand amid the other players in the Cement Industry.
Our Company is regularly taking steps to promote education in nearby areas. In order to provide modern day schooling in the remote areas like Debendra Nagar, Badarpur, Dist-Karimganj the Company has also sponsored a school for the children namely “ Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya” in which along with modern education moral values are also imparted amongst the students. The company is also frequent in organizing quiz programmes on at various levels in Assam. The Company from time to time also sponsors students of the locality for education at V.K.V School and also provide with Furniture, Black Board, etc to the school.
In view of developing and maintaining natural aesthetic beauty and protection of environment, company has planted various types of trees in different locations of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi District and maintenance of these trees are regularly followed by company though employees and contractors. Forwarding ‘Mass Tree Plantation’ motto, various unused/waste lands lying in the area are taken up by the company through mutual understanding with landlords for planting various types of trees which have a significant environmental impact.
Up to now a significant number of p lants of different variety namely Gamari, Krishnachura, Rain Tree, Maha Neem, Arjun, Su-Babul, Goorah Neem, Various Bamboos (Tulda & Balcoa etc), Eucalyptus, Mangium, Joytun and Radhachura etc. has been planted, totaling to around 1,30,000 in numbers covering an area of more than 250 Bighas and these numbers are increasing day by day.
Recognizing the importance of International Environment day, every year your company celebrates 5th June by planting more variety of trees with the collaboration of various organizations and Forest Department. In this regard, on the day of 5th June every year, the company plants various ornamental and medicinal trees on National Highways, various educational Institutes, Govt. Offices in the Dist-Karimganj and also distributes plant saplings to the Student and Govt. official in order to encourage more tree plantation in the area.
With determination to provide better health care facilities BVCL has set up free Health Care Centre at Debendra Nagar, Badarpurghat, Distt. Karimganj, Assam for the welfare of Local Community dedicated to providing excellent primary Health Care free of Cost to needy people regardless of race, religion or gender. Further on routine basis following health care activities are being organized frequently:

-> Vaccination for Child
-> Provisions of safe drinking water
-> Yoga Camp
-> Diabetic Camp
BVCL also makes arrangements to provide free medical consultancy to local inhabitants.
New Medical Clinic has also been set up in surrounding area of plant to cater to the needs of Backward Families through free of cost Check-ups & distribution of free medicines.
Medical camps had also been conducted in host communities and villagers medically examined and provided necessary treatment. Treatment for cataract, tuberculosis, pre and post natal care for women were some of the areas covered. AIDS awareness camps are also organized by the company.
As part of the healthcare initiatives , BVCL in association with Lions Club, Badarpur Greater and District Blindness Control Society of Karimganj, organized “Free Eye Check up Camp with Microsurgery (IOL)” last year at Madhavdham School, Srigouri, District Karimganj, Assam.
Mass marriage programme for scheduled caste couples, exhibition and training on balanced diet and food preservation for women and girl students, awareness drive on Knowledge, Attitude and Practices, are being conducted to increase women empowerment.
BVCL has constructed various Waiting Sheds for common mass people at different places like Badarpurghat, Silchar and Ziribum.
BVCL has also constructed a park namely Valley Strong Island at Badarpurghat at tri-junction on NH-44 and NH-53.
Under the community welfare activities the company has actively participated in distributing free Medicine, Cloths and Snacks on various occasions. Likewise this year also company has also sponsored various sports tournaments and cultural activities.
The Company has also initiated Clothes distribution among Handicapped persons as per list provided by the General Secretary, Handicapped Society, Badarpur. The clothes were also distributed to the people living under Below Poverty Level.
Umbrella distribution among School Students at Mullaganj in Karimganj District has also been assumed by your Company in presence of Hon’ble Minister Shri Siddek Ahmed, Govt. of Assam. During the year 2011-12, your company distributed approximately 25,000 number of Umbrellas to the school students in the Barak Valley region.
BVCL also carries out Water distribution camp during Durga Puja on the days of Saptami, Astami, Navami & Dasherra.
